Belasco Theatre

New York, New York

Built by famous theatrical impresario David Belasco in 1907, the Belasco Theatre was built to high standards and filled to the upper balcony with magnificent examples of the decorative arts. Over the years, the interior fell into disrepair. Original decorative paint schemes were covered, and scores of Tiffany stained glass fixtures had elements that were either damaged or removed from the building.

Femenella and Associates was engaged in this stained glass window and restoration project to restore the steel windows and the stained glass fixtures over a period of two years. This involved the careful cleaning of years of smoke and grime from the delicate glass elements. Many of the fixtures were missing and were replicated by our personnel including hundreds of turtlebacks, iridized globes and custom pressed jewels. All of the fixtures were completely restored and rewired. Leaded glass panels were releaded. Some of the larger architectural elements were treated in situ.
