President Emeritus

Arthur J. Femenella, Sr., FAIC, APT RP, President Emeritus

Arthur Femenella Sr. is committed to excellence in the field of historic window restoration. As a veteran of the Viet Nam War where he served as a military policeman with a top security clearance. Arthur Sr. began his career in stained glass in 1968 as a craftsman, serving his apprenticeship at the Greenland Studio in New York. In 1981, he became the co-owner and vice-president of this prestigious restoration studio. In 1988, Arthur Sr. sold his interest in the Greenland Studio to open his own consulting firm and become the Vice-President and co-owner of the Jack Cushen Studio, also of New York. Both studios gained national recognition for excellence in the field of stained glass conservation. In 1993, Arthur Sr. consolidated his efforts and formed Femenella & Associates, Inc., the present firm.

Arthur Sr. divides his time between supervising major restoration projects, consulting, lecturing and writing for numerous national magazines. His projects have included works by Louis Comfort Tiffany, John LaFarge, Frank Lloyd Wright, Maitland Armstrong and other artists of equal importance. Arthur Sr. enjoys solving difficult problems, especially when the objective is to restore beauty and grace to a work of art that has been ravaged by time and the elements. Arthur Sr.’s practical experience, science background, and creative problem-solving abilities make him unique in the field.

 Arthur Sr. has written over forty articles on stained glass restoration. He is a past Restoration Editor for Stained Glass Quarterly and the Restoration Consultant for Glass Art magazine, a past Board member and past Chair of the Restoration Committee of the Stained Glass Association of America, and sat on the Board of Governors for the Restoration Committee of the Census of Stained Glass Windows in America. Arthur Sr. is a founder, past president and Vice-President of the American Glass Guild, Inc. a not-for-profit group dedicated to stained glass education. Additionally, he was the consultant to the Protective Glazing Task Force. This was a group of architects, engineers, and preservationists charged by the Department of the Interior to develop national guidelines for the fabrication and installation of protective glazing across the United States. Arthur Sr. lectures and teaches seminars on restoration across the country.

Professional Affiliations:

Arthur Sr. is a member of the Association for Preservation Technology International, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the American Institute for Conservation of Historic Works, the United Kingdom Institute for Conservation of Historic Works, The British Society of Master Glass Painters, and numerous other preservation groups.

Education:

Arthur Sr.’s formal education is in the sciences, majoring in physics at City College of New York. After 110 successful credit hours of study, Arthur Sr. left to follow a career in stained glass.

Co-President

Patrick J. Baldoni

Patrick J. Baldoni is the Co-president and a Senior Project Manager for Femenella & Associates. He has extensive experience in the field, beginning with his time as a craftsman on the Princeton University Chapel Project in October 2000. Patrick is very successful with projects that have challenging schedules and logistics. He is an outstanding communicator and coupled with his extensive background in estimating and project management, provides our clients with the leadership necessary to achieve their project goals. Patrick's expertise ensures complete client satisfaction throughout the entire process.

Co-President 

Arthur J. Femenella, Jr.

Arthur is co-president and COO of Femenella & Associates. Learning to hand putty stained glass at age 7, Arthur grew up in the historic preservation environment under the direction of his father. From 2000-2009 Arthur worked in the field during the offseason, being involved in projects such as Temple Emanuel in Manhattan, The Emma-Willard School, as well as the Chapel at Princeton University.

While attending UVM as a two-sport student-athlete (Ice Hockey and Lacrosse) he was the recipient of the Jeff Stone Memorial Award for community service and off-ice leadership. Arthur is also a welder, designing and building custom choppers, motorcycles, and assorted custom parts. At F&A Arthur concentrated his efforts on expanding the company’s major disciplines, adding steel & metal window restoration.

Arthur is also the leader of the F&A educational marketing program. Performing AIA certified presentations for continuing education for architects and professionals across the country. All topics are centered around the care and stewardship of historic windows.
